Top tips to elevate your business photography

Checking out the people that make up a business or brand is one of the first things prospective customers/investors do online. Photography has an important role to play in striking the right tone so it makes sound business sense to invest in decent images of your people.

Ok, so you’ve decided you need some people photography, here are Twist’s top tips to help you:

1. Consider why you need the photography

Where the pictures will go – speaker’s profile, your company website, social media?

2. What kind of photography do you need?

Headshots or business portraits? Headshots capture the head and shoulders, are sometimes shot studio-style against a backdrop and are fairly quick to capture. Business portraits require more planning in advance, are often shot in natural light on a wider angle to provide context/content and require more time per person.

3. Consider location for the pictures

Does your office have plenty of natural light? Can the space be tidied? If not, hiring some office space might be the best option.

4. Create a schedule

Create a schedule for the day’s shooting so people know when they are needed and to help them plan their day.

5. Collaborate with staff

Explain why the photography is needed and where the pictures will be seen, advise what to wear. This will help them prepare and maximise the chance of capturing the best images.
